How do you say goodbye to someone who has been so apart of your life?

It’s not easy! Never is! Today we had a team lunch to say goodbye to our Social Media Manager, Kirsten Wiggill. Where do I start…at the beginning I suppose. From the moment we sang “Wannabe” by the Spice Girls at the company karaoke to the stressful yearly event that we had to pull off, Kirsten has been a rock in the PR team like it’s nobody’s business.

At first, I used to be very intimidated by Kirsten purely because she had more experience than me on paper. I used to think that I had to prove myself to her that extra mile, so she would think that I’m her equal. As time went on, I learnt so many things from Kirsten. How to take risks, to believe in myself and my faith and most importantly, to firmly stand by my values.

At times, I like to please everyone because I hate conflict but sometimes conflict is what you need to be able to ‘ruffle the feathers’ so that you can learn to hold your own and come out of your comfort zone. Besides being a blondie, Kirsten and I come from two completely different backgrounds but I have learnt so much from her and hope that the I can take the things she has taught me with me for the rest of my life.

This is not farewell or goodbye, but a simple, ‘see you later!’
